Hear from well-known Indigenous authors about their love of the written word and participate in the Great Book Swap Challenge to help raise funds to increase literacy levels of Indigenous children in remote and regional Australia.

Join Author, Linguist and Gamilaraay language teacher Donna Gayford McLaren and participate in the Book Swap Challenge for Indigenous Literacy Day 2015. Hear about her inspiration of the written word then settle in and grab a cushion as Donna reads from the bilingual story Dhural Buluuydha – A Noise in the Dark, her first children’s book, published in 2013 and co-authored by her mother Lynne Gayford.

Donna teaches linguistic and language teaching methods at the University of Western Sydney and Charles Sturt University. She has developed resources for use in schools and community programs and is currently completing her PhD in Developing Pedagogy for effective teaching of Aboriginal reclamation language. Donna is currently a teacher at Caves Beach Public School on the NSW Central Coast.
