Constitutional Recognition Forum

This extract from the Australian Constitution 1900 shows Section 127 before it was repealed in 1967, available online at: foundingdocs.gov.au/scan-sid-108.html (The Law Reports, Public General Statutes, Vol. 38, London 1900)

Do we need to examine our relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, to heal old wounds and delete discrimination from our founding document?

The Exploring Perspectives Forum is an exciting event that will be looking at the proposed Constitutional Recognition of Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. The forum will feature insights from guest speakers including Kirsten Gray, Jeff McMullen, George Williams and Nicole Watson, who will discuss recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people in the Constitution

It will be held in the Activities Room at Ashfield Town Hall, 260 Liverpool Road, Ashfield on Wednesday 26 March 2014 from 6.30pm.

This is a great opportunity to get informed and be part of the conversation about the proposed referendum.
