Yabun Festival is the largest one-day gathering and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in Australia and is held annually on 26th of January on Gadigal Land in Sydney.

Yabun (meaning ‘music to the beat’ in Gadigal language) is a free all-ages event bringing together First Nations peoples and allies to honour history, acknowledge loss, and celebrate the ongoing survival, strength, and excellence of First Nations peoples. It is a day of anticipation full of live music, traditional and contemporary dance/performances, panel discussions, workshops, market stores and cultural activities. Founded in 2003 as a continuation of the early Survival Day events of the 1990s, Yabun remains 100% Aboriginal owned and led through the Gadigal Information Service (GIS). Yabun is a safe space that encourages truth-telling, cultural expression and community connection.

Yabun is held in Victoria Park next to the University of Sydney and Broadway Shopping Centre. Parking in the area is limited, and use of public transport is encouraged. The closest train station is Redfern Station and only a short walk to Victoria Park. Other transport includes frequent buses on City Road and Broadway. For those attending the Survival Day / Invasion Day Protest and March beforehand please go to The Blak Caucus’ Facebook and Instagram pages to keep up with planning.
