Traditional weaving workshops

Learn traditional weaving techniques to make a basket.

The workshop will be held over 2 days on consecutive weekends (19 and 26 August, 1pm to 4pm). You’ll need to attend both days. All materials will be provided and you’ll go home with your basket after the second session. No prior experience in weaving needed.

Facilitated by Charlene (Charlie) Aguiar Dos Santos, Indigenous art educator from Koori Kinnections. Charlie is passionate about connecting past to present and making learning about Australia’s First Peoples fun and entertaining.

What you’ll get:
– Opportunity to tap into the oral narrative of Aboriginal cultures
– Demonstration from an experienced weaver and educator
– Hands-on weaving experience
– A woven basket that you handcrafted
