First Nations Collectors

In this event on First Nations Collectors, presented by the State Library of NSW,  Melissa Jackson will look at the importance of collecting materials that document and celebrate the lives of First Nations peoples in Australia. Melissa will talk about some of her favourite items from her mother’s personal collection of Aboriginal kitsch, as well as some of the complexities that surround collecting Aboriginal histories for a major cultural institution. Melissa will share stories that showcase the benefits of private and public collecting.

Melissa Jackson is a Bundjalung woman and Indigenous Engagement Librarian at the State Library of NSW.
