Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Cooperative presents Bunarm Bologaman wahl Bundjalung (Brothers coming together of the Bundjalung Nation), an exhibition of new works by eight leading Bundjalung Artists, including Noel Charlie Caldwell, Luke Close, Anthony (Tule) Gordon, Burri Jerome, Gilbert Laurie, Oral Roberts, Jai Walker and Lewis Walker.

This exhibition of paintings and wood sculptures is a collaboration of work by Bundjalung men who have a deep connection to the culture of the Bundjalung Nation and each other as brothers dedicated to protecting and caretaking culture for future generations.

The artworks in Bunarm Bologaman wahl Bundjalung is inspired by nuthung garra (ancestors) and the higher spiritual source known as nuthung ngali and the butheram (creation times). The work comes from all areas of the Bundjalung Nations as a celebration of Bundjalung Culture. The artworks are connected to the rainforests, to the ocean and all the country in between; it represents their djugun (country)

The men offering their work are all teachers and mentors strong in their culture and art. They have worked on many collective public art projects on the North Coast. Each artist offers a unique perspective on the Bundjalung Culture, and all are dedicated to creating work that inspires the youth of the north coast area. The artists in this exhibition are strong men; role models dedicated to their work and their communities.

ACE Community College has worked with all of the artists in this exhibition and has worked on remote communities in the Bundjalung Nation for over 11 years. They proubdly support their work and the work of the Boomalli Gallery who offer this wonderful opportunity for the men to show their work to a wider audience.

This is a rare opporunity to see artworks from the Bundjalung Nation in Sydney.

The exhibition will be officially opened by The Governor of NSW, her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir, AC, CVO at 2:30 pm at Boomalli (55-59 Flood Street Leichhardt) on Saturday 2 November 2013. An artist talk will be held on Sunday 3 November at 2:30 pm.
