The ABC Archives delivers Indigenous led initiative Kin-nect which allows mob access to their Indigenous archive collections for both personal and private use. The collection includes footage, audio, recordings, and images and is the largest collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander news, dating back to the 1930’s.
The initiative aims to support mob in reconnecting with material relating to their kin, culture and community while ensuring that access is guided by Indigenous leadership and cultural protocols. By opening these archives, Kin-nect helps share important histories and voices that may otherwise remain unseen or unheard.
The initiative is FREE, for more information please reach out to archives.Indigenous@abc.net.au
