Make sure you find time to come along to the National Indigenous NAIDOC Art Fair. Hosted by the iconic Blak Markets, this event takes place over two days on the weekend before NAIDOC Week. The art fair features Aboriginal and Torres Strait artists from more than 20 remote art centres in the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia, working across a range of mediums. The art market includes more than 30 stalls from around NSW, selling art, jewellery, gifts, homewares, and Indigenous food and beverages, and is a great opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from remote communities to sell their artwork. The art fair also features bush tucker cooking, and weaving demonstrations, and an all-female line-up of live music and dancing, including performances by the Stiff Ginns amongst others. This is in the spirit of the 2018 NAIDOC theme, ‘Because of her, we can!’
