We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect and Celebrate

NAIDOC Week celebrations (5-12 July 2015) are held across Australia to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect and Celebrate.

NAIDOC Week will showcase a range of art, food, lifestyle and dance events across the city, including:

  • Yininmadyemi: Thou didst let fall talk and tour: Share in the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women who served in our nation’s military, honoured in Yininmadyemi – Thou didst let fall, one of the 7 artworks curated by Hetti Perkins for the Eora Journey.
    When: 12:15-1:15pm 6 July 2015, Where: Hyde Park, west of Anzac Memorial, Cost: Free.

AboutNAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians.
