The Indigenous Science Experience at Redfern is a celebration of Indigenous and Western science, demonstrating the value of traditional knowledge and Aboriginal culture in science and the relevance of science to our everyday lives.
If you’re looking for a day out, the whole family will enjoy a fun and engaging array of interactive science activities and stalls. Take part in hands-on science shows and maths puzzles, experience bush teas and medicines, make Aboriginal tools and jewellery, try your hand at Aboriginal boomerang making and yarn with Aboriginal elders from across Australia – and all absolutely free.
Added to this will be a traditional smoking ceremony and the opportunity to purchase some Aboriginal arts, crafts and food from stalls. With live music thrown in, it promises to be a great day!
This event is hosted by the National Indigenous Science Education Program, Macquarie University, Inspiring Australia, Redfern Community Centre and the City of Sydney.
